private practice reset - bali
Five days to step away from your practice and work on what's next
Step away from the day-to-day demands of running your practice and give yourself the time, space and headspace to focus on your business — alongside other psychology practice owners who understand what it's really like.
Hotel Komune, Bali | 31 May– 5 June 2027
Business strategy • Mentoring • Mastermind • Coworking • Connection • Self-care
You spend so much time working in your practice. When do you get to work on it?
Running a psychology private practice means there is always something that needs your attention - clients, staff, emails, finances, systems, referrals, compliance and the endless list of things that come with running a business.
The bigger projects are often the ones that keep getting pushed aside.
Private Practice Reset - Bali is an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day for five nights and create some genuine space to think about your practice, work on what's next and connect with other psychology practice owners.
This isn't a conference, and it isn't a week filled with workshops. It's a working retreat.
You'll have structured business sessions, mentoring, mastermind discussions and dedicated co-working time - alongside long lunches, massage, movement, pool time and space to simply switch off.
The goal is to return home not only feeling refreshed, but having actually moved your business forward.
What have you been putting off?
Maybe it's documenting your systems.
Finally sorting out your finances.
Developing a new service.
Improving your website.
Building automations.
Creating policies and procedures.
Working out how to step back from clinical work.
Or simply deciding what you want your practice to look like next.
Before the retreat, you'll choose your Retreat Project - something meaningful in your business that you haven't had the time or headspace to tackle.
We'll create the space, structure, support and accountability to actually work on it.
Come to Bali with the business project you've been putting off. Leave five days later having finally done something about it.

A small group of people who get it
Private Practice Reset brings together a small group of psychology practice owners who understand the challenges, decisions and opportunities that come with running a practice.
Whether you're working independently, building a team or managing an established group practice, you'll have the opportunity to learn from people at different stages of the journey - sharing ideas, comparing what's working, troubleshooting challenges and gaining a fresh perspective on your own practice.
With only 8–10 participants, the group will be small enough for genuine conversations, individual mentoring and meaningful connections, without getting lost in a room full of people.

Work on your business. And make some space for yourself
The retreat is designed around approximately a 60% business / 40% relaxation balance. There'll be enough structure to make the week productive, without scheduling every hour of your day.
What might a day look like?
7:00 — Optional yoga, fitness or a slow start
8:00 — Breakfast
9:00–12:30 — Business session, mastermind or focused coworking
12:30 — Lunch together
Afternoon — Yours. Pool, massage, beach, nap, work on your Retreat Project or continue conversations with other owners
4:30 — Optional one-to-one mentoring / hot seat / coworking
Evening — Dinner and downtime
There'll be structure, but there'll also be space.
You won't be expected to attend activities from breakfast until dinner. Part of the point of coming to Bali is having enough room to think, connect and recharge.

Your office for the week looks a little different...
Welcome to Hotel Komune, Bali
Set on Bali's east coast, Hotel Komune gives us the perfect setting to step away from everyday life for a few days — without giving up the things we need to actually get some work done.
We'll have our own dedicated, air-conditioned conference space for our business sessions and coworking, while the rest of the resort becomes the backdrop for everything else.
Start the day with breakfast or an optional yoga or fitness class. Spend the morning working on your business. Then close the laptop and head to the pool, book some time at the spa, use the recovery facilities, walk along the beach or simply find a quiet spot and do nothing for a while.
Everyone will have their own private Resort Room, so when you've had enough business talk and socialising, you can genuinely retreat.
Why Komune?
I've attended retreats at Komune myself, so this isn't a venue I've chosen from a brochure. I know how well it works for this kind of week — there are beautiful spaces to connect with a group, but also plenty of room to disappear for a few hours when you want some time to yourself.
A productive week doesn't have to feel like a busy one.

Why I'm hosting this retreat
I'm Stacy Shepherd, a Clinical Psychologist and the owner of Broulee Psychology, a group private practice on the NSW South Coast.
I've spent years building and running a psychology practice while also being a clinician, supervisor and business owner, alongside all the other things that happen outside work.
One thing I've learnt is just how difficult it can be to find genuine time to step away from the day-to-day demands of the practice and think strategically about the business.
I've also experienced how valuable it is to spend time with other practice owners.
Running a private practice can be surprisingly isolating. Some of the most useful business conversations I've had haven't happened in formal training. They've happened around a table with other practice owners who understand the challenges, are willing to share what they've learnt and can offer a completely different perspective on a problem.
That's what I want to create with Private Practice Reset.
Not another conference.
Not five days of presentations.
A small group of psychology practice owners with the time and space to think, work, share ideas, solve problems and enjoy being in Bali while we do it.
I'll facilitate the business sessions, mastermind discussions and coworking throughout the retreat, as well as offering individual mentoring focused on your practice and your Retreat Project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the retreat for?
Private Practice Reset is designed specifically for psychologists who own or co-own a private practice in Australia.
The retreats are intentionally small so there is plenty of opportunity for genuine conversation, connection and individual attention.
Can I bring my partner or children?
These retreats are designed as a dedicated space for practice owners to step away from everyday responsibilities, focus on their business, connect with other owners and prioritise some genuine downtime and self-care.
For this reason, the retreats are participant-only and aren't designed for accompanying partners or children.
Do I have to attend everything?
No. There will be structured business sessions and dedicated coworking time, but there will also be plenty of space in the program.
Part of the purpose of the retreat is having the freedom to slow down. If what you need one afternoon is a massage, a swim, a nap or a few quiet hours by yourself, that's completely okay.
Is the retreat suitable for me if I'm at a different stage of private practice?
Yes. Private Practice Reset is designed for psychology practice owners at all stages of the journey.
You might be just starting out and working out what you want your practice to become, running an established solo practice, beginning to build a team, or managing a larger group practice.
The challenges may look different, but the retreat is deliberately structured around your own practice and your own Retreat Project. You'll have dedicated time to work on what's most relevant to you, alongside mentoring, mastermind discussions and opportunities to learn from other practice owners.
Having people at different stages can also be one of the strengths of the group - bringing different experiences, perspectives and ideas to the conversations.
You don't need to be running a large practice, planning to grow, or even wanting employees to benefit from the retreat. The common thread is that you own a psychology private practice and want some dedicated space to think about where it's going next.
What if yoga isn't my thing?
That's completely okay! Yoga and fitness sessions are optional. You can join in, go for a walk, use the gym, sleep in or have a slow breakfast instead.
This isn't a wellness retreat where everyone is expected to participate in every activity.
Are flights included?
No. Participants will arrange their own flights to and from Bali.
Return airport transfers between Denpasar Airport and Hotel Komune are included in the retreat package.
What meals are included?
Daily breakfast, three group lunches and three group dinners are included.
Other meals are deliberately left flexible so that you don't have to spend every meal with the group and have the freedom to make your own plans.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Participants will be required to arrange appropriate travel insurance for the retreat, including cover for cancellation and medical expenses.
Is the retreat tax deductible?
The tax treatment of retreat expenses will depend on your individual circumstances and the nature of your business.
You should speak with your accountant or tax adviser about whether any component of the retreat, flights or associated travel expenses may be deductible for you.
What happens if I book and later need to cancel?
Full booking and cancellation terms will be provided before you pay your deposit.
Because accommodation and retreat arrangements need to be secured well in advance, payments are all non-refundable. Appropriate travel insurance is therefore strongly recommended and will be required for participants.
